2025 Word of the Year

Picking your Word of the Year isn't just another fleeting trend—it's your personal power move for 2025. Instead of making resolutions that fizzle out faster than my morning coffee buzz, I've chosen a Word of the Year for the past 5 years– and trust me, it's a game-changer.

Three reasons why choosing a Word of the Year is a good idea:

  1. Clarity of Focus: Instead of getting overwhelmed by multiple resolutions, you have one clear touchstone to return to throughout the year.
  2. Mindset Transformation: By deliberately selecting a word that resonates with your aspirations, you're priming your brain to notice opportunities, make aligned decisions, and cultivate a specific mental attitude. It's like setting a filter that helps you recognize paths and choices that support your chosen theme.
  3. Simplified Decision-Making: When faced with choices or challenges, your Word of the Year becomes a quick reference point. It provides an instant litmus test: "Does this align with my word?" This can help reduce decision fatigue and keep you consistently moving toward your core intention.

I've been choosing a word of the year for ...YEARS! Here's a look back at some of mine from the past 5 years...

2020: Courage I chose Courage because I was having such a hard time actually sharing my work with the world.

2021: Intentional By this time, I had started a my Instagram page, but decided I wanted it to be a bit more focused. I chose the word intentional to help me stay intentional about what I was sharing with the world. I had dreams of turning this hobby into a real job and knew I needed to make things more aligned and not so confusing.

2022: Onward This was basically a continuation of the year prior. I realized it was hard to streamline everything as a multi-passionate person, so I just wanted to stay the course, onward! I finally started my business this year!

2023: Together My goal was to get my life together (is that even really possible) personally and professionally. My business was a year old, and it still felt like there were too many loose ends. I also wanted to physically get together with my friends and family more.

2024: Flow Last year my focus was on discovering and maintaining a creative flow. A steady, continuous stream of creation, finding joy in the process, and passing that joy along to you and others.

That brings us to 2025...

This year my Word of the Year is

ALIGN

After taking some time to reflect on the past year, I recognized a misalignment between my creative spirit and my current environment. Here's what I mean...

  • My living space and wardrobe currently feel disconnected from my creative core.
  • Outside of my art, I want creativity, fun, and vibrancy in my daily life
  • Decision making is hard when you're pulled in multiple directions. My gaoal is to make decisions and curate experiences that genuinely reflect my beliefs and desires.

Here's a few things I'll be doing this year

  • Gradually updating home decor to reflect my creative style
  • Curating a wardrobe that feels more authentically "me"
  • Creating daily rituals that spark joy and creativity
  • Replacing toxic food, makeup and objects with clean options
  • Making decisions that consistently honor my core values
  • Hone in on my art and make sure it's actually aligning to what I love

And there you have it...
